The Original Ronaldo Retires: #9 Best Hamburgers in NYC

Brazil’s legendary #9, the original Ronaldo, has announced his retirement. For those of you who can’t remember his form before he slothed back to Brazil to play for Corinthians, the striker racked up some impressive numbers for his club sides: Barca, PSV, Real Madrid, and the Milan brothers. He scored 217 goals in 298 appearances for these top-level clubs.

For Brazil, he scored 62 goals in 97 appearances, including winning the 2002 World Cup. Despite having a great World Cup tournament in 1998, his poor performance in the final - and in the entire 2006 World Cup tournament – have marred his reputation. That and his growing girth ensured that his final years playing for Corinthians left him more of a caricature than a legend.

Ronaldo’s knack for scoring carried off the pitch as well. He sired four children with three different women before getting a vasectomy in 2010. The one to watch for is Ronald, born in Italy in 2000 to Brazilian female footballer Milene Domingues.

    What! No Corner Bistro?
You’ve gotta head downtown more often.
